2010 MARATHON REPORT
Monday May 31st saw the third annual staging of the Newry City Marathon, Half-Marathon and Fun Run in favourable weather conditions amidst the rolling countryside of counties Down and Armagh.

FOUR. PEOPLE ONE GOAL: 100KM IN 36 HOURS

4 -5 SEPTEMBER 2010

TRAILTREKKER is the 100km team challenge across the Mourne Mountains and Cooley Peninsula.

Teams of four must trek through the night to complete the course in under 36 hours.

It's an amazing experience that combines endurance, navigation, determination and teamwork!




Ards Half Marathon Ards Half Marathon

2010 will be the third Ards Half Marathon, which has established itself firmly on the race calendar. This year a 10 mile walk has been introduced and it is hoped this will encourage more people to take part and provide an opportunity for more to raise money for this years nominated charity - Northern Ireland Hospice. New for 2010 is the introduction of an Ards Triple Series. Ards Half Marathon has teamed up with the Portaferry 10 mile and Newtownards 5 mile races. Once again the Ards Half Marathon will be part of the ChampionChip Half Marathon Series sponsored by eaga HEAT.

Springwell Running Club is a very successful, dynamic, young running club serving the Coleraine, Ballymoney and Limavady areas. Belfast will host this year's event on Bank Holiday Monday 3rd May. Over 18,000 runners are expected to hit the streets of the North, South, East and West of the City.

Connemara Marathon Connemara Marathon

Comprising of a Half Marathon, a Full Marathon and a 39.3 mile Ultra Marathon all taking place on the one day in late March or early April. Entry fee for 2010 is €70.00(Euro). The 2009 event attracted a sell out of 3,600 entries with representation from 31 Countries. The 2010 event will take place on April 11th.

Athletics Northern Ireland Athletics Northern Ireland

Athletics Northern Ireland is the governing body for the sport of athletics in N. Ireland. It was founded in 1989 by the amalgamation of the NI Amateur Athletic Association (founded in 1932) and the NI Womens Amateur Athletic Association (founded in 1951).

We are involved in all disciplines of the sport of athletics- track and field, cross-country, road running and fell running- and caters for all ages from 11 years upwards.

There are currently 56 clubs based throughout Northern Ireland which are affiliated to the governing body. These clubs can be contacted individually to find out information on club training nights, venues, times, fees etc.
